Dr. Herman L. Walker serves as the Pastor-Teacher of Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, Dayton, Ohio. He was appointed by God and elected as Pastor-Teacher by the people of Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church on June 23, 2001.  Dr. Walker was officially installed as pastor on Sunday, August 19, 2001.
 
He was called into the preaching ministry of the Gospel on February 22, 1984.  He was ordained under the pastorate leadership of Dr. Morris Smyth on December 8, 1984.  He has a shepherd’s heart for God’s people.  Pastor Walker has a deep passion for moving God’s people to be Christ-Centered and Christ-Conscious. Pastor Walker is a visionary leader, a strong believer in expository preaching/teaching, and possesses a conscientious zeal of reaching the unchurched for Christ (Matthew 28:19-20).  The Lord is constantly adding souls to the Mount Moriah to be developed in His likeness.  Under Pastor Walker’s leadership, over one million dollars of church projects and interior innovations has been completed.  Pastor Walker’s leadership has led the church in Biblical Stewardship, Fellowship (i.e., koinōnia).  Currently, the church is debt-free since his tenure as pastor.  In addition, over twenty additional ministries have been established to serve, reach and cultivate both the church body and community.
 
In November 2010, Pastor Walker established the Mount Moriah Community Development Corporation (MMCDC) to enhance the quality of life of families; where he served as executive director.  Pastor Walker is a visionary leader seeking to save souls, make disciples and enhance the total life of God’s people.

Pastor Walker receives a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (B.E.E.) from University of Dayton, July 29, 1979.  He receives an Associated of Biblical Studies (A.B.S), Centerville Bible College, Centerville, Ohio, May 22, 1988; a Master of Divinity, June 12, 1992; and a Doctor of Ministry May 25, 2001 from the Zion Hill Baptist Theological Institutes of Dayton, an Extension of Faith Baptist Seminary (Anderson, South Carolina), respectively.  On May 30, 2003, Pastor Walker received an honorary letter degree of Doctor of Divinity from Faith Baptist Seminary.
 
Pastor Walker served four years in the U.S. Air Force from 1972 until 1976.  Also, he served two years in the U.S. Air Force Reserve (1977–1979).  He retired from the Department of Defense after 29 years as a Lead Electronic Warfare Systems & Integration Engineer, Air Force Material Command (AFMC), Aeronautical System Center (ASC), Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.
 
Pastor Walker is a member of The Dayton Baptist Pastor-Ministers Union (DBPMU) of Greater Dayton.  He served six years in the capacity of Finance Secretary and was very instrumental in establishing fiscal accountability and structuring an operational budget format for the Union. Also, he served as Program Committee Chairman for three years. He currently serves as the chairman of the DBPMU Educational Committee.  He served as Dean of Academic/Student Affairs and was a teacher at Zion Hill Baptist Theological Institutes from September 1992 until June 2008.
 
Pastor Walker is affiliated with the Northwestern Missionary Baptist Association, the Ohio General Baptist Convention (OBGC), the National Baptist Convention USA, Inc., the Southern Baptist Convention, and membership of the local Greater Dayton Association of Baptists.  He is member of The Institute Electrical and Electronics Engineer, Inc. He is avid golfer, love to read, listening to classic and jazz music and a model rocket enthusiast.
 
Pastor Walker and his lovely wife, Diane H. are the proud parents of three beautiful, intellectual and energetic daughters, Kimberly (Linward) Webb, Nicole (Durand) Barnes, Ashley (Sam) Hall, and the grandparents of six energetic grandchildren.
